What is a Gigster?

Do you love to share your thoughts and stories about the products and services you use? Can you create content on your social media? Do you like makin’ bacon? If you answered yes to these questions, then YOU could become a Gigster.  Our platform brings together brands that are looking for real people, like you, to promote their product, service, or special promotion through the video content you create. Basically, Gigsters get paid to shoot a video on their phone!

How does the GigPig app work?

The GigPig app connects brands looking for people, aka Gigsters, interested in promoting their product or service on digital media platforms. You get paid and brands get real content.

You can see some of the brands we have worked with on our brand page.

APPLICATION AND APPROVAL PROCESS

How do I become a Gigster?

It’s so easy!  First, download the app.  Once, you’ve signed up, you’ll receive an audition gig to do at home.  This information is detailed in the GigPig app. It will come with a video example with talking points.  Record your video and then upload your best one! Our team vets these videos and, if approved, you’ll do a couple of fun training videos for pay! The training videos show us you can take direction and help us determine which brands you would be a good match with. Be sure to communicate well with us—we’re here to guide you and give you notes to help you get it right. Gigs are based on your location, so please make sure you keep your profile information accurate. And don’t forget to provide a phone number in case we need to contact you. If there is information missing, you will miss out on paying gigs.

How do I submit my audition video?

Simply follow the instructions in the GigPig app.  Once you’re done with your audition video, you’ll upload your best take in the app. We will let you know via email if you’ve been approved.

How long will it take for me to do the audition video?

That depends on each person.  Some people only need 10 to 15 minutes where others may take up to 30 minutes.  It just really depends on how quickly you can grab the key information, put it into your own words, and add your personality. Remember you can shoot as many as you like to determine the best one to send us.

How will you guys let me know if I was selected to become a Gigster?

After you have submitted your audition video through the GigPig app, we will notify you through email if your audition video was approved.  Once you are selected to be a Gigster, the email will have detailed instructions for training. It is a valuable guideline to help you create the best content possible so that your videos can be approved and you can get paid.

GIGSTERS

Do I have to be an experienced influencer with lots of followers to become a Gigster?

Absolutely not. We’re not interested in the number of followers you have, but we do want an outgoing individual who understands the online social landscape. We simply want people who can take an assignment and fulfill it correctly with authenticity.

What do you mean by authenticity?

We HIGHLY encourage you to add your own personality and other things you’d like to add that are specific to you and your family in each of these Gigs.  BUT, it is equally important that you mention the key talking points. For instance, if there’s a special on apple pie for one week only and the price is $4.99 and we ask you to mention that, then you can’t just mention that there’s a special on apple pie but leave out the price or how long the special is going on.  However, you could say something like this, “I don’t know about you other moms, but my kids are obsessed with apple pie.  They literally beg me to get it every time we are in a Sam’s Club. But today, I don’t mind getting it. Why? Because Sam’s Club is having a special on apple pie.  Normally it sells for $8.99, but this week ONLY, they’re selling it for $4.99. I may just have to 2 pies at this price. So get on down to your local Sam’s Club because at these prices, these pies are going to go fast!”

Now that I’ve been approved to become a Gigster, how will I know when I get a gig?

You will receive a notification in the GigPig app and from your City Coordinator when a gig is available in your area.  This is why it’s very important that you make sure that all your information is accurate in the GigPig app and our emails are in your contacts.  Gigs are based on your location and brand specifications, so if you move please update ASAP.

What other ways will you be communicating with me?

In addition to sending you gigs through the GigPig app, we will also be communicating with you via email and text.  These emails are updates with what’s happening with GigPig, tips and tricks to help you with your content, our monthly newsletter.  We may also need to call or text you. We want the process for brands and Gigsters to be simple and successful, which means communication is important! Calling/texting allows us to give immediate feedback so you aren’t spending your precious time going back and forth— and we can get brands their content FAST!

What if I want to refer my friends to be Gigsters?

We love when our Gigsters want to refer their friends.  Depending on the city and available gigs, we create referral programs. If we have one, you will be notified by email. These programs are usually temporary. When these programs are running, you could receive $ for every friend that signs up, passes the audition video, and completes the training process.

Who are the City Coordinators and Recruiters?

After Gigsters have worked with us for quite some time, we may ask them to become City Coordinators or Recruiters. This is a great opportunity because we know the best Gigsters recruit the best Gigsters! If you are interested in helping to coordinate talent for a Gig or recruit Gigsters, you can reach out to your City Coordinator. These spots are dependent upon projects and limited in number.

GIGS

How often will I receive gigs, and do I have to do them all?

Gigs are sent out based on the client’s branding needs. Timeline is dependent upon client project/programs. Some programs run for several months, while others are a one-time deal. You can decide which ones you want to do.  We realize that people are busy, and we want to make this an easy and fun way for you to make extra money.

How do I receive instructions for each gig?

For every gig you receive, instructions will be detailed in the GigPig app and an email from the Program/Project Manager. Sometimes we will include a sample video.  It is very important that you learn the key talking points for each gig and communicate well with your Program/Project Manager so when you shoot your video it meets the brand’s standards.  We also encourage you to be yourself and speak in your own words. We want YOUR unique personality to shine.

Is there a deadline for each gig?

Yes!  With every gig you get sent through the GigPig app, it gives you a deadline to complete and submit the assignment.  You are in no way obligated to do each gig. If you feel you cannot complete an assignment within the timeframe or it’s not a gig you’re interested in, just let us know.  We don’t expect you to be able to do them all.

Do I have to post on my social media, and which social media platform do I need to post?

It depends on the project. Some brands will require organic posting as part of their program. Typically, if that is the case, we will let you know when we send out the Gig. Because our content can be used for almost any digital marketing, it’s not always required. We often look for Gigsters with an active social media so they know the landscape of content, marketing, and authenticity.

Who uses my content, where and how?

GigPig and the brand you’ve created content for own exclusive rights to your content and may choose to share your content on their social media platforms, webpages, or other digital outlets. If they do not share your content, it is no reflection on your work; they may simply be looking for more brand awareness through your social media.

Will I be tagged if the brand uses my content on their social media platforms or for a social ad?

Because both GigPig and the brand own rights to your content, it is at our discretion as to whether you will be tagged if we use your content on our social media or in a paid social ad.

Are there other opportunities as a gigster?

We occasionally have opportunities for Gigsters to be in TV commercials.  Our Gigsters love when they are asked to appear in one of our TV spots.  These are all non-union commercials and compensation may vary and could be in the form of gift cards. If we ask you to be in one of our TV commercials, we will provide you with more details, and you may accept or decline the opportunity.

Payment & Income Info

What will I get paid?

In the GigPig app, you’ll see a detailed assignment with a sample video and the money you’ll receive in your piggy bank once the assignment is uploaded according to instructions.  Most gigs range from $25-$250; however, it’s up to you whether you want to do the gig or not. And if for some reason your video is not approved, you’ll be notified by the Program/Project Manager and given the opportunity to re-do it. Unapproved content is rare as we work with you during the gig to help you to meet gig requirements.

When do I get paid?

Once there is at least $10 in your “piggy bank,” you can cash out! We will add the coins to your piggy bank after the video is approved, it usually takes around 3 business days after the due date. Payments are made via PayPal, so if you don’t have a PayPal account you will need to get one. We do not send payment via check, bank transfer or Venmo, etc. We love makin' bacon for our Gigsters, but keep in mind that, by law, if you make over $600, we will require you to fill out a W-9 form.

What is a W-9?

We require a W-9 form to be filled out in the event you make over $600 within a calendar year.  IRS Form W-9 is most commonly used by individuals when they are working as a freelancer or independent contractor.  Gigsters are freelancers/ independent contractors. By law, if you make $600 or more from GigPig gigs, we must send you a 1099 form for your taxes as well as a copy to IRS.

What if I have an agent?

We do not negotiate or handle communication through an agent or manager.  You are paid as an independent contractor. If you choose to give a commission to your agent or manager, that is up to you, but we do not handle that. We love dealing directly with our Gigsters and are always available if there is ever a gig that is unclear.  At the end of the day, we want to work with people who enjoy creating content and want to make some extra money.

Are these gigs Union?

No. They are all non-union paid gigs.
